DTN Early Word Grains 10/16 05:38 Grain Prices Higher Monday on Follow-Through From Bullish USDA Reports Released Last Week December corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 3 cents, December KC wheat is up 3 1/2 cents, December Chicago wheat is up 6 3/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 3 1/2 cents. By Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: December corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 3 cents, December KC wheat is up 3 1/2 cents, December Chicago wheat is up 6 3/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 3 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed, struggling to interpret world geo-political worries, economic data, and corporate earnings. As we start the week, the Israeli ground offensive against Hamas has not yet begun, and there is a huge push to try and keep the humanitarian impacts to a minimum. With the world's focus on Israel and Gaza, the war in Ukraine is taking a back seat. Over the weekend, Kiev reported that Russian attacks on Ukrainian ships and port facilities had destroyed 300 thousand tons of grain. It is a light week for economic news, with the highlights being retails sales and business inventories on Tuesday, housing starts on Wednesday and existing home sales on Thursday. Probably as important as the economic data points will be comments this week by Fed members, as several of them are going to be speaking publicly. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 39.15 at 33,670.29 and the S&P 500 down 21.83 at 4,327.78, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.63%. Early Monday, the December Dow Jones Futures are up 116 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.34%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.16% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.15%. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 2.03% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.46%.
