DTN Early Word Grains 10/17 05:51 Grain Prices Mixed Tuesday Morning on Consolidating Gains and Harvest Pressure December corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 3 1/2 cents, December KC wheat is down 2 cents, December Chicago wheat is down 5 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is down 3 cents. By Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: December corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, November soybeans are up 3 1/2 cents, December KC wheat is down 2 cents, December Chicago wheat is down 5 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is down 3 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: U.S. equity markets are lower Tuesday morning while European markets are a little higher, catching up to Monday's strong session here in the U.S. President Biden will visit Israel Wednesday, while at home there will be a vote for a new speaker of the House of Representatives. The impact on commodities from the attack on Israel by Hamas is has been primarily centered on the potential impact to world energy prices, should this escalate into a broader war that threatens Middle Eastern shipping lanes and/or results in the re-imposition of Iranian sanctions. Energy prices were lower Monday as traders observed what was the beginning of western attempts to try and negotiate a peaceful solution. Tuesday morning, we will get retail sales data along with industrial production, capacity utilization, and business inventory data. Later Tuesday, it appears that there will be a vote to elect Jim Jordan as the new speaker of the House of Representatives. Right now, the vote is reportedly very close. We will also get a number of corporate earnings reports and comments by members of the Federal Reserve Tuesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 314.25 at 33,984.54 and the S&P 500 up 45.85 at 4,373.63, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.71%. Early Tuesday, the December Dow Jones Futures are down 59 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.21%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.15% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.14%. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 1.2% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.32%.
