DTN Early Word Grains 10/18 05:34 Grain Prices Higher Wednesday Morning, Led by Soybeans and Ideas of Better Soybean Demand December corn is up 2 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 7 1/4 cents, December KC wheat is up 3 1/4 cents, December Chicago wheat is up 4 3/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 4 3/4 cents. By Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: December corn is up 2 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 7 1/4 cents, December KC wheat is up 3 1/4 cents, December Chicago wheat is up 4 3/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is up 4 3/4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: U.S. equity markets are slightly lower again Wednesday morning as earnings reports released after the bell were below expectations. The House of Representatives remain in limbo after Rep. Jordan's nomination did not receive the required number of votes. This is also weighing on U.S. markets Wednesday morning. There will be another vote Wednesday morning. The outcome is far from certain. Tuesday did bring some strong economic news when the retail sales data was sharply higher than trade expectations. This indicates that the consumer is still willing to spend money. We had important GDP data out of China Wednesday morning, with 3rd quarter GDP a half point higher than expected at 4.9%. This is helping Asian markets and is also a bullish driver to our soybean market. Some of the Asian strength is offset by tighter restrictions on microchip sales into China. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 13.11 at 33,997.65 and the S&P 500 down 0.43 at 4,373.20, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.85%. Early Wednesday, the December Dow Jones Futures are down 81 points. European markets are lower with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading down 0.5%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.27% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.2%. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 0.01% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.8%.
