Asking prices are around $182 to $183 in the South, $285-plus in the North. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed for at least one more day, possibly two. Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice 298.28 +2.61, select 269.29 +1.41), with light to moderate box movement (39.18 lds of choice cuts, 10.01 lds of select cuts, 4.65 lds of trim, and 14.01 lds of ground). Cattle futures near the top of the noon hour are sharply higher on both live and feeder contracts. The lone exception is the soon to expire spot November feeder contract which is lower.
