DTN Early Word Grains 12/18 05:40 Grain Markets Lower Monday Morning on Brazilian Rainfall Forecasts March corn is down 1 1/4 cents per bushel, January soybeans are down 3 cents, March KC wheat is down 9 1/2 cents, March Chicago wheat is down 5 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is down 7 3/4 cents. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is down 1 1/4 cents per bushel, January soybeans are down 3 cents, March KC wheat is down 9 1/2 cents, March Chicago wheat is down 5 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is down 7 3/4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed with U.S. futures slightly higher but many world markets slightly lower to start the new week. The U.S. 10-year note fell to under 4% last week due to Fed Chairman Powell's dovish press conference, which shifted the narrative from "higher for longer" to concerns that they might be "too high for too long". As a result, the marketplace has priced in several rate cuts for next year which helped push the DJIA to new lifetime highs and push the S&P 500 to within 2% of its lifetime high. Market participants are concerned about the issues that have developed in shipping with attacks in the Red Sea by Houthi militants ongoing. This week, we will see U.S. Housing Starts on Tuesday, Existing Home Sales on Wednesday, an update on U.S. 3rd quarter GDP and U.S. Leading Indicators on Thursday, and finally Durable Goods along with reports on Personal Income, Consumer Spending and Personal Consumption which will all be released on Friday. In Agriculture, we will see our normal schedule of reports including Grain Inspections on Monday, Ethanol Production on Wednesday, and Export Sales on Thursday. Additionally, we will see important livestock reports on Friday afternoon that include Cattle on Feed, Cold Storage, and Quarterly Hogs and Pigs. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 56.81 at 37,305.16 and the S&P 500 down 0.36 at 4,719.19, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.93%. Early Monday, the March Dow Jones Futures are up 83 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.45%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.45% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.4%. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 0.64% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.4%.
