CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mostly higher Thursday morning despite a relatively poor day on Wednesday. The 10-year note briefly traded above 4% on Wednesday as traders continue to be worried that the reality of Fed actions this year is likely to be less dovish than had been priced in during the rally in the 4th quarter of 2023. Wednesday's data included the JOLTs report which showed job openings falling in line with trade expectations, and the ISM manufacturing PMI which showed a small improvement over November, but still showed U.S. manufacturing in contraction. The minutes of the most recent Federal Reserve meeting were also released and indicated a willingness to lower rates this year, but a real uncertainty as to whether the data will ultimately support those cuts. Thursday we will get the weekly jobless claims number and the ADP employment report. Friday is the major U.S. unemployment report that the trade will most heavily focus on.
