DTN Early Word Grains 01/17 06:03 Grain Markets Mixed Early Wednesday March corn is down 1 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 6 1/2 cents, March KC wheat is up 1 1/4 cents, March Chicago wheat is up 3 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is down 1/4 cent. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is down 1 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 6 1/2 cents, March KC wheat is up 1 1/4 cents, March Chicago wheat is up 3 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat is down 1/4 cent. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are lower Wednesday morning, as interest rates across the world are ticking higher due to comments from members of the Fed and other world bankers at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Various bankers have commented that the market is premature in its forecast of the number and timing of rate cuts, which has helped push the 10-year note to 4.066% on Tuesday. This has weighed on stock prices and continues to do so Wednesday morning. Also seen as bearish for equity markets is the report of 2023 Chinese GDP, which was reported at 5.2%, the lowest GDP growth (other than Covid years of 2020 and 2022) since 1990. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 231.86 at 37,361.12 and the S&P 500 down 17.85 at 4,765.98, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.07%. Early Wednesday, the March Dow Jones Futures are down 169 points. European markets are lower with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading down 1.72%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.98% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 1.27%. Asian markets are also lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 0.4% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 2.09%.
