CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed but mostly lower Thursday morning after Wednesday's sharp selloff in the aftermath of the Fed decision to keep rates steady. The key item from Wednesday's communique was language suggesting that a rate cut in March was possible but unlikely. This was reiterated in the post meeting press conference by Chairman Powell where he said a rate cut in March "was not the most likely case." This sent U.S. stocks lower into the Wednesday close and some of that weakness spilled into world markets on Thursday, although U.S. futures are slightly higher Thursday morning. Thursday morning, we will have several important economic releases, with U.S. Jobless Claims and 4th quarter Productivity being released at 7:30 a.m. CST and the ISM manufacturing index coming out at 9 a.m. CST. Traders are going to be looking for data that will increase the odds of a March rate cut.
