DTN Closing Livestock Comment 04/04 15:33 Cattle, Feeders Sneak Higher Thursday Closes in Bearish Week June live cattle and May feeders both closed higher Thursday, helped by a higher week of beef export sales and showing some reluctance to extend Monday's lower close until more can be learned about the risks of avian influenza. June lean hogs also ended a little higher, extending Wednesday's new one-year high. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: June live cattle and May feeder cattle posted small gains Thursday with trading still limited by concerns about the presence of avian influenza in dairy cattle. June lean hogs settled up 25 cents at $105.00 for the first time in over a year, supported by strong packer demand for cash hogs.
