CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are lower Friday morning, catching up to the losses seen in the U.S. markets late in the session Thursday. Early trade in the U.S. was stronger, as initial jobless claims were higher than expected and the U.S. trade balance was a little worse than expected. However, U.S. markets experienced a sharp selloff late in the session as crude oil prices staged a sharp rally, stoking renewed inflation fears. Additionally, a number of comments from Federal Reserve members took a more hawkish tone regarding interest rates. The most widely quoted comment came from Minneapolis Fed Chair Neel Kashkari who said the strong labor market and decent GDP growth suggested to him there was no reason to cut rates. Eventually, U.S. markets had their worst day in over six weeks. Friday morning, we will get the new jobs report for the month of March, and with Kashkari's comments Thursday fresh in the minds of traders, a strong report could send stocks lower once again.
