DTN Early Word Grains 05/02 05:45 Grain Markets Higher Thursday Morning on Planting Worries and Challenges in World Wheat Production Areas July corn is up 5 cents per bushel, July soybeans are up 10 1/4 cents, July KC wheat is up 10 cents, July Chicago wheat is up 11 cents and July Minneapolis wheat is up 2 1/2 cents. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: July corn is up 5 cents per bushel, July soybeans are up 10 1/4 cents, July KC wheat is up 10 cents, July Chicago wheat is up 11 cents and July Minneapolis wheat is up 2 1/2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed Thursday morning after a very volatile session on Wednesday where stock markets surged in the aftermath of the Federal Reserve decision and press conference, only to crash late in the session and close the day mixed. World markets that were closed when all of this happened are just catching up and are showing some uncertainty after such a volatile move in the U.S. markets. Meanwhile, U.S. markets are stronger Thursday morning, shrugging off the poor close and embracing the message from Chairman Powell that was much more "dovish" that traders were anticipating prior to his press conference. Given that recent inflation data that has showed that the Fed is not making progress recently in getting inflation to 2%, the Chairman was asked about the possibility of raising rates. He was very emphatic that rate hikes were not on the table and would only suggest that the Fed thinks that current policy is restrictive enough and just needs more time to do the job. He also said that there are scenarios where a cut or cuts could still happen this year. There were important data points Wednesday, with the ADP employment data hotter than anticipated, while construction spending and the ISM Manufacturing index were both weaker than traders expected. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 87.37 at 37,903.29 and the S&P 500 down 17.30 at 5,018.39, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 45.58%. Early Thursday, the June Dow Jones Futures are up 127 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.37%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading up 0.03% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.63%. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 0.1% and China's Shanghai Composite Index closed for a holiday.
