DTN Early Word Grains 05/20 05:50 Grain Markets Higher to Begin the Week on World Weather Concerns July corn is up 2 3/4 cents per bushel, July soybeans are up 6 cents, July KC wheat is up 18 3/4 cents, July Chicago wheat is up 19 1/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat is up 15 1/4 cents. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: July corn is up 2 3/4 cents per bushel, July soybeans are up 6 cents, July KC wheat is up 18 3/4 cents, July Chicago wheat is up 19 1/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat is up 15 1/4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are higher Monday morning. Traders believe that recent economic data could still result in interest rate cuts sometime this year. Other world Central Banks may start to cut rates earlier, to deal with recessionary pressures that have already taken hold in many countries. Economic data this week will include existing home sales on Wednesday, new home sales and flash PMIs on Thursday, and durable goods on Friday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 134.21 at 40,003.59 and the S&P 500 up 6.17 at 5,303.27, The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.553%. Early Monday, the June Dow Jones Futures are up 15 points. European markets are higher with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.27%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading up 0.32% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index up 0.4%. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index up 0.73% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.54%.
