CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed but mostly lower in the aftermath of another lower day on Friday and the worst week in equities since September. Traders are watching the long end of the interest rate curve move higher, even as the Federal Reserve is lowering the short end of the curve. Last week, Fed Chairman Powell suggested that rate cuts might come less frequently than traders had been pricing into futures, and this weighed on sentiment for the stock market. This week brings a lighter week of new data, with the home builder confidence index on Monday, housing starts and building permits on Tuesday, weekly jobless claims, existing home sales, and the leading economic index on Thursday, and the S&P flash PMI's on Friday. In agriculture, in addition to the regular weekly reports, there will be a cattle on feed report released on Friday afternoon. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 305.87 at 43,444.99 and the S&P 500 down 78.55 at 5,870.62. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.428%. Early Monday, the December Dow Jones Futures are down 117 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.17%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.14% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index down 0.06%.
