DTN Closing Grain Comments 12/16 13:52 Ag Markets Mixed as Trading Volume Eases Into Holiday Weeks Ag markets were mixed to start the new week but overall found chart support following the late selloff last week. Fundamental news remains thin as South American weather shows very little changes from the ideal conditions that have been the story for the past two months. Outside market influence was mixed to start the week, with the U.S. Dollar Index attempting a move lower following six consecutive positive sessions, and equity markets mixed as well. Ten-year treasury yields continue to inch higher and back towards mid-November highs as inflationary concerns linger especially with the Fed set to meet this week to determine their target interest rate moving forward. A cut this week is almost a certainty at this point, however recent inflationary data does allude to a slowing of cuts moving forward.
