White wheat basis was a bit defensive as the nearby spread to Chicago has weakened over the past week. Shipments...Weekly export inspections revealed an expected slowed pace of export loadings over the holiday week, with total wheat loadings coming in at 12.4 million bushels. Year-to-date shipments now stand at 451 million bushels, which is 27% ahead of a year ago. Hard red spring was top shipper with 4.4 million bushels, followed closely by white wheat with 4.1 million, and hard red winter registered 2.2 million bushels. West coast exporters loaded 6.1 million bushels of wheat that went mostly to Thailand and South Korea, along with 9.6 million bushels of corn and 10 million of soybeans. Price Performance...Marketing year-to-date white wheat prices delivered to Portland are averaging $5.96 per bushel, down 14% from the same period a year ago.
