DTN Early Word Grains 01/09 05:42 Grain Markets Mixed to Lower on Dollar Strength, Extended Forecasts for South America March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 6 cents, March KC wheat is down 3/4 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 1 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1/2 cent. Futures markets will close early Thursday in honor of former President Carter. Kent Beadle, DTN Contributing Analyst EARLY MORNING GLOBEX NET CHANGES: March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are down 6 cents, March KC wheat is down 3/4 cent, March Chicago wheat is down 1 cent and March Minneapolis wheat is up 1/2 cent. Futures markets will close early Thursday in honor of former President Carter. CME GLOBEX RECAP: World equity markets are mixed after a U.S. session that recovered in the afternoon to post small gains in the Dow and the S&P 500. The U.S. stock markets will be closed Thursday, and U.S. equity futures markets will close early. There will not be any market moving data releases Thursday morning. On Wednesday, the ADP employment estimate at 122,000 new jobs was lower than expectations, but the weekly initial jobless claims were also lower than expected. Wholesale inventories came in as expected. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 106.84 at 42,635.20 and the S&P 500 up 9.22 at 5,918.25. The 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 4.693%. Early Thursday, the March Dow Jones Futures are down 9 points. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of London's FTSE 100 trading up 0.71%, spot futures of Germany's DAX is trading down 0.08% and the spot futures of France's CAC 40 Index up 0.32%. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 Index down 0.94% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.58%.
