White wheat exporters allowed basis against the Chicago March futures to weaken a bit over the past week to keep offers competitive. Weekly Sales...USDA reported another solid week of export demand for U.S. wheat, coming in near 20 million bushels for the second straight week. Year- to-date commitments now stand at 724 million bushels, which is 12% ahead of a year ago and 1% above the five-year average pace. Hard red winter claimed top seller status with 6.3 million bushels and with 174 million bushels in sales, sets 52% ahead of a year ago but 23% below average. White wheat saw another good week with 5.9 million bushels in sales, putting commitments at 198 million bushels, which is 47% ahead of a year ago and 25% above average. Hard red spring booked 5.1 million bushels and with sales of 231 million is 7% ahead of a year ago and 9% above average. Top Buyers...Mexico once again led the charge as the top U.S. wheat buyer last week with 5.4 million bushels, followed by Japan with 2.6 million.
