Significant trade volume will likely be delayed until later today and/or tomorrow. So far this week, only some light scattered trade has taken place, mostly in Kansas and Texas at $195 to $197, steady to $2 lower than last week's weighted averages. A handful of sales have been reported sold in parts of Nebraska and Iowa at $310 to $314, but certainly not enough to establish any kind of an accurate trend for the week. Beef cutouts are mixed at midday (choice 313.33 -0.21, select 306.31 +3.78) with light to moderate box movement (48.31 lds of choice cuts, 6.31 lds of select cuts, 0.00 lds of trim, and 8.15 lds of ground). Live cattle futures near the noon hour are moderately to sharply lower, while feeder issues are sharply lower. According to the Export Sales Highlights report for the period of February 21 to February 27, 2025, Net beef sales of 13,400 MT for 2025 were down 27 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (3,300 MT), Japan (2,900 MT), China (2,500 MT), Taiwan (2,100 MT), and Mexico (1,000 MT). Exports of 13,200 MT were down 11 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Japan (3,800 MT), South Korea (3,400 MT), China (2,300 MT), Mexico (1,300 MT), and Taiwan (800 MT).
