Trading activity remains extremely slow, however, with fresh lows in white wheat prices this week bringing farmer offerings to a standstill. Export bid structures have flattened out on both hard red winter and dark northern spring markets, with only modest carries posted on white wheat. Basis levels were mostly unchanged for the week. Weekly Sales..USDA reported much-improved export demand for US wheat, coming in at the second-best week of the marketing with more than 26 mb. Year-to-date sales of 506 mb stand 15% behind last year. Sales by class showed hard red winter as top seller with 9.5 mb, due mainly to interest from Nigeria, followed by hard red spring with 8.2 mb. Both white wheat and soft red winter tallied 4 mb each. Thailand and Nigeria were the top buyers for the week, near 4 mb, with the Philippines, Taiwan and Japan coming in on both sides of the 3 mb mark. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2015 DTN/Telvent.
