DTN Early Word Grains 03/21 05:58 Wheat Starts Higher After Cold Weekend May corn was down 1/2 cent, May soybeans were down 1 3/4 cents, and May Kansas City wheat was up 5 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was down 1/2 cent, May soybeans were down 1 3/4 cents, and May Kansas City wheat was up 5 cents. CME Globex Recap: Wheat prices were higher from the first trade on Sunday evening after morning temperatures in western and central Kansas plummeted into the teens over the weekend. Corn and soybeans are moderately lower after Argentina's row crops benefited from three days of rain. Global stock markets are a little higher overnight while gold and crude oil are both lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 120.81 points higher at 17,602.30; the NASDAQ Composite was up 10.57 points at 4,410.83, while the S&P 500 rallied 8.99 points to close at 2,049.58 Friday. DJIA futures were 26 points higher overnight. Asian markets were higher with the Nikkei up 60 points (.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite rallied 64 points (2.1%). European markets were steady to higher with London's FTSE 100 up 9 points (0.15%). The U.S. dollar index was up 0.09 at 95.17. Crude oil was down $0.33 at $40.81 while Brent crude fell $0.16 to $41.04. April gold was $7.80 lower at $1,246.50. China's Dalian soybean futures were slightly higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were also slightly higher.
