DTN Early Word Grains 04/08 05:58 Doubling the Fun on Double-Day May corn was unchanged, May soybeans were fractionally higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was unchanged, May soybeans were fractionally higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 2 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Early Friday (04/08/16) finds grains quiet once again. Soybeans were fractionally higher, corn was near unchanged, while wheat contracts showed small gains. Most of the attention was on crude oil where renewed commercial buying interest sparked a solid overnight rally. The U.S. dollar index showed little reaction to Chairperson Yellen's comments on the overall economy Thursday evening. DJIA futures were higher indicating the big board could try to gain back some of Thursday's sharp loss. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 174.09 points lower at 17,541.96, the NASDAQ Composite was down 72.35 points at 4,848.37, and the S&P 500 fell 24.75 points to close at 2,041.91 Thursday. DJIA futures were 93 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower though the Nikkei was up 71.68 points (0.5%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 23.46 points (0.8%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 39.81 points (0.7%). The U.S. dollar index gained 0.033 to 94.515. Crude oil rallied $1.31 to $38.57 while Brent crude gained $1.29 to $40.72. June gold was $2.80 lower at $1,234.70. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower.
