DTN Early Word Grains 04/19 05:56 Wheat Wobbles Weakly While Grains Go Green May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 5 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 1 cent higher, May soybeans were 5 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Winter wheat contracts took a breather following Monday's strong rally, easing back slightly overnight through early Tuesday morning. However the balance of the grain complex, including spring wheat and oats, continued to push higher. Both energies and metals were mostly higher, with commodities in general supported by a quiet sell-off in the U.S. dollar index. Meanwhile, DJIA futures were supported by a rebound in global equity markets. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 106.70 points higher at 18,004.16, the NASDAQ Composite was up 21.80 points at 4,960.02, and the S&P 500 rallied 13.61 points to close at 2,094.34 Monday. DJIA futures were 67 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 598.49 points (3.7%) and China's Shanghai Composite rallied 9.16 points (0.3%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 up 39.23 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index slipped another 0.160 to 94.330. Crude oil was up $0.68 at $40.46 and Brent crude rallied $0.81 to $43.72. June gold was $9.60 higher at $1,244.60. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher again Tuesday morning.
