By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn was 6 cents higher, May soybeans were 23 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 4 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains worked like dogs overnight to post solid gains early Thursday morning. Trade volume was moderate in May corn and soybeans and light in July KC wheat. Most outside commodities were also higher while the U.S. dollar index was near unchanged, awaiting comments from President Draghi of the European Central Bank. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 42.67 points higher at 18,096.27, the NASDAQ Composite was up 7.80 points at 4,948.13, and the S&P 500 gained 1.60 points to close at 2,102.40 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 10 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with the Nikkei up 457.08 points (2.7%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 19.69 points (0.7%). European markets were mostly lower ahead of President Draghi's comments, with London's FTSE 100 down 39.60 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was off 0.017 at 94.475. Crude oil gained $0.13 to $44.31 and Brent crude rallied $0.15 to $45.95. June gold was $7.60 higher at $1,262.00. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher again Wednesday morning.
