DTN Early Word Grains 05/13 06:03 It's Friday the 13th: Grain Bulls Beware July corn was 3 cents lower, July beans were 10 cents lower, and July Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was 3 cents lower, July beans were 10 cents lower, and July Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were under pressure early Friday, still led by the bean complex. Soybeans posted double-digit losses during the overnight session, pulling corn and wheat contracts down to more modest losses. The continued rally in the U.S. dollar index put pressure on the energy complex while gold was able to hold a small rally. DJIA futures were lower, pressured by overseas equity markets. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 9.38 points higher at 17,720.50, the NASDAQ Composite was down 23.36 points at 4,737.33, and the S&P 500 fell 0.35 point to close at 2,064.11 Thursday. DJIA futures were 82 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower with Japan's Nikkei down 234.13 points (1.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 8.75 points (0.3%). European markets were also lower with London's FTSE 100 down 36.21 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index gained 0.145 to 94.295. Crude oil lost $0.80 to $45.90 while Brent crude dipped $0.78 to $47.30. June gold was $4.30 higher at $1,275.50. China's Dalian soybean futures and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower overnight.
