DTN Early Word Grains 05/20 05:56 Bean Complex Leads Grains Higher Friday Morning July corn was 1 cent higher, July beans were 6 cents higher, and July Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was 1 cent higher, July beans were 6 cents higher, and July Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Soybean meal continued to climb higher overnight on strong commercial buying, pulling soybeans with it. Wheat and corn also followed, trimming a small part off Thursday's sharp losses. Outside markets were mostly higher with gold and crude oil both showing gains. The U.S. dollar index was bouncing back and forth across unchanged, while DJIA futures were higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 91.22 points lower at 17,435.40, the NASDAQ Composite was down 26.59 points at 4,712.53, and the S&P 500 lost 7.59 points to close at 2,040.04 Thursday. DJIA futures were 38 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 89.69 points (0.5%) with China's Shanghai Composite up 18.58 points (0.7%). European markets were higher with London's FTSE 100 gaining 80.11 points (1.3%). The U.S. dollar index rallied 0.012 to 95.299. Crude oil gained $0.17 to $48.33 while Brent crude added $0.08 to $48.89. June gold was $3.50 higher at $1,258.30. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower while Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
