DTN Early Word Grains 05/27 05:57 Grains Quietly Mixed Early Friday July corn was unchanged, July beans were 2 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 3 cents lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was unchanged, July beans were 2 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 3 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains were relatively quiet overnight while soybean meal slipped lower through early Friday morning. Outside markets were under pressure, due in part to renewed buying interest in the U.S. dollar index. DJIA futures were higher, indicating equities could see early strength. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 23.22 points lower at 17,828.29, the NASDAQ Composite gained 6.88 points to 4,901.77, and the S&P 500 dipped 0.44 point to close at 2,090.10 Thursday. DJIA futures were 15 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 62.38 points (0.4%) while China's Shanghai Composite lost 1.40 points. European markets were quietly mixed with London's FTSE 100 up 2.84 points. The U.S. dollar index gained 0.121 to 95.289. Crude oil lost $0.39 to $49.09 while Brent crude fell $0.55 to $49.04. June gold was $2.50 lower at $1,217.90. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher and Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
