DTN Early Word Grains 05/31 05:57 Grains Mixed, Soybeans Lean Higher July corn was down 1 1/2 cents, July soybeans were up 2 3/4 cents, and July Chicago wheat was down 2 3/4 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn was down 1 1/2 cents, July soybeans were up 2 3/4 cents, and July Chicago wheat was down 2 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Grains are mixed early with soybeans a little higher while corn and wheat start a little lower. This week's forecast from DTN expects more problems from heavy rains in Oklahoma and Texas, but drier weather in the eastern Midwest which should help planting progress. Outside markets are fairly quiet with both, the U.S. dollar index and July crude oil showing small gains. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 44.93 points higher Friday at 17,873.22; the NASDAQ Composite was up 31.73 points at 4,933.50, and the S&P 500 was up 8.96 points at 2,099.06. DJIA futures are 21 points higher overnight. Asian markets are lower with the Nikkei up 280.00 (+1.6%) while China's Shanghai Composite is up 2 points (+.1%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 3 points (-0.1%). The U.S. dollar index is up 0.07 at 95.59. August gold was $2.30 lower at $1,214.40. China's Dalian soybean futures were mixed while Malaysian palm oil futures were .5% lower.
