DTN Early Word Grains 06/13 06:01 Welcome to a Weather Market Monday December corn was 10 cents higher, November soybeans beans were 13 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 4 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: 6:00 AM CME Globex: December corn was 10 cents higher, November soybeans beans were 13 cents higher, and July Kansas City wheat was 4 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Strong buying hit the grains on the open of the overnight session, driven by disappointing rain totals and above normal temperatures for much the U.S. Midwest this past weekend. In other words, it's nothing more than a normal weather market Monday, the first of the season. Outside markets were mixed with energies mostly lower and metals higher. The U.S. dollar index was down as the FOMC June two-day meeting is set to begin Tuesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 119.85 points lower at 17,865.34, the NASDAQ Composite lost 54.07 points to 4,894.55 and the S&P 500 fell 19.41 points to close at 2,096.07 Friday. DJIA futures were 67 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower again with Japan's Nikkei down 582.18 points (3.5%) while China's Shanghai Composite fell 94.09 points (3.2%). European markets were also lower with London's FTSE 100 off 36.90 points (0.6%). The U.S. dollar index was down 0.034 to 94.537. Crude oil was off $0.57 to $48.50 while Brent crude was down $0.46 to $50.08. August gold was $11.40 higher at $1,287.30. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
