DTN Early Word Grains 06/21 05:56 Selling Takes a Breather Early Tuesday December corn was unchanged, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and July Kansas City wheat was unchanged. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was unchanged, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and July Kansas City wheat was unchanged. CME Globex Recap: Grains were unchanged to higher early Tuesday morning, though buying interest was tentative at best. Old-crop soybeans led the way while new-crop lagged. Corn was near unchanged as traders evaluate spotty overnight rains across the U.S. Midwest. Wheat contracts were quietly higher on the continued sell-off of the U.S. dollar index. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 129.71 points higher at 17,804.87, the NASDAQ Composite gained 36.87 points to 4,837.21 and the S&P 500 rallied 12.04 points to close at 2,083.25 Monday. DJIA futures were 66 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 203.81 points (1.3%) while China's Shanghai Composite dipped 10.25 points (0.4%). European markets were mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 16.70 points (0.3%). The U.S. dollar index was down 0.143 to 93.468. Crude oil was off $0.42 to $48.95 while Brent crude slipped $0.34 to $50.31. August gold was $9.80 lower at $1,282.30. China's Dalian soybean futures were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower again overnight.
