DTN Early Word Grains 08/12 05:57 Just Another Early Report Day Morning December corn was unchanged, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was unchanged, November soybeans were 1 cent higher, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: Grains didn't do much overnight, but then again they haven't for quite some time. Then there's this little matter of government report later Friday morning providing extra incentive for traders to stay on the sidelines. Soybeans were able to post a small gain while corn and wheat were lower. Outside markets saw metals and energies lower while both the U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures traded higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 117.86 points higher at 18,613.52, the NASDAQ Composite gained 23.82 points to 5,228.40, and the S&P 500 rallied 10.30 points to close at 2,185.79 Thursday. DJIA futures gained 17 points overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher with Japan's Nikkei up 184.80 points (1.1%) and China's Shanghai Composite gained 48.03 points (1.6%). European markets were mixed with London's FTSE 100 up 122.71 points (0.7%), Germany's DAX lost 30.67 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 dipped 5.27 points (0.1%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.025 higher to 95.882. Crude oil was off $0.01 to $43.48 while Brent crude was $0.07 lower at $45.97. December gold was $7.00 lower at $1,343.00. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both higher overnight.
