DTN Early Word Grains 08/30 05:58 "The Suspense is Terrible. I Hope It'll Last." December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains were mostly lower overnight while wheat contracts were able to post small gains early Tuesday morning. Outside markets were mixed with the energy complex mostly higher while metals were lower. The U.S. dollar index continued its end-of-the-month rally, gaining another 0.200 overnight. DJIA futures were also posting a small gain. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 107.59 points higher at 18,502.99, the NASDAQ Composite gained 13.41 points to 5,232.33, and the S&P 500 rallied 11.34 points to close at 2,180.34 Monday. DJIA futures were 4 points higher overnight. Asian markets were mostly higher though Japan's Nikkei was down 12.13 points while China's Shanghai Composite gained 4.65 points (0.1%). European markets were also mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 up 7.43 points (0.1%), Germany's DAX gained 106.68 points (1.0%), and France's CAC 40 rallied 38.51 points (0.8%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.172 higher at 95.752. Crude oil was up $0.40 to $47.38 while Brent crude gained $0.39 at $49.65. December gold was $5.00 lower at $1,322.10. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
