DTN Early Word Grains 09/26 06:06 Setting Sail on a Busy Week December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents lower, November soybeans were 1 cent lower, and December Chicago wheat was 1 cent lower. CME Globex Recap: After a lower open Sunday evening, grains traded both sides of unchanged during the session. Early Monday morning finds commodity markets mostly lower, with all three grains under pressure. Energies were higher and metals were lower, all while the U.S. dollar index and DJIA futures showed losses. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 131.01 points (0.7%) lower at 18,261.45, the NASDAQ Composite lost 33.78 points (0.6%) to 5,305.75, and the S&P 500 fell 12.49 points (0.6%) to close at 2,164.69 Friday. DJIA futures were 88 points lower overnight. Asian markets were lower with Japan's Nikkei down 209.46 points (1.3%) and China's Shanghai Composite off 53.47 points (1.8%). European markets were also lower with London's FTSE 100 down 78.65 points (1.1%), Germany's DAX fell 162.55 points (1.5%), and France's CAC 40 lost 77.67 points (1.7%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.112 lower at 95.365. Crude oil rallied $0.59 to $45.07 while Brent crude gained $0.69 to $46.58. December gold was $1.00 lower at $1,340.70. China's Dalian soybean futures were lower and Malaysian palm oil futures were higher overnight.
