By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent higher, November soybeans were 3 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Grains fell right back into sideways patterns following Wednesday's USDA reports, with corn and wheat posting small gains overnight while soybeans remained under pressure. In the financial markets, concerns over China's economy rose again after data surfaced that the country's exports fell much more than expected last month on decreased demand. The U.S. dollar index was also lower as traders continue to read between the lines of the Federal Reserve's September minutes released Wednesday. Gold was showing a modest gain, possibly tied to news that a U.S. warship fired missiles at three Yemen radar sites in response to attacks from earlier in the week. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 15.54 points (0.1%) higher at 18,144.20, the NASDAQ Composite lost 7.77 points (0.2%) to 5,239.02, and the S&P 500 gained 2.45 points (0.1%) to close at 2,139.18 Wednesday. DJIA futures were 105 points lower overnight. Asian markets were mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei down 65.76 points (0.4%), Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 375.75 points (1.6%), and China's Shanghai composite gained 2.85 points (0.1%). European markets were lower with London's FTSE 100 down 48.18 points (0.7%), Germany's DAX losing 138.72 points (1.3%), and France's CAC 40 off 61.58 points (1.4%). The U.S. dollar index was 0.123 lower at 97.843. Crude oil dipped $0.01 to $50.17 while Brent crude added $0.07 to $51.88. December gold was $7.50 higher at $1,261.30. China's Dalian soybean and Malaysian palm oil futures were both lower overnight.
