DTN Early Word Grains 02/28 05:59 Grains Mixed to Higher as Traders Look Forward to March May corn is up 1/4 cents per bushel, May soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, and May K.C. wheat is up 3 1/2 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: May corn is up 1/4 cents per bushel, May soybeans are down 1 3/4 cents, and May K.C. wheat is up 3 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Global equity markets are weaker this morning as news broke of the U.S.-North Korea Summit ending without agreement on denuclearization. More than anything, investors could be nervous about any implications for talks between the U.S. and China. Today marks the final day of spring insurance pricing for corn, soybeans and spring wheat, giving producers a better sense of their risk management options heading into spring. Traders are anxious to see if wheat will make a bottom heading into March and whether any of the rumored soybean sales to China will actually get reported. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 72.82 at 25,985.16 and the S&P 500 down 1.52 at 2,793.90 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.693%. Early Thursday, the March DJIA futures are down 58 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 171.35 (-0.79%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 12.87 points (-0.44%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 43.98 points (-0.62%), Germany's DAX down 12.04 points (-0.1%) and France's CAC 40 down 4.43 points (-0.08%). The March Euro is up 0.004 at 1.140 and the March U.S. dollar index is down 0.303 at 95.735. The March 30-Year T-Bond is up 11/32nds, while April gold is up $6.70 at $1,327.90 and April crude oil is down $0.29 at $56.65. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.44% while soybean meal was down -0.56%.
