White wheat markets did receive some good news with an announcement that USDA will be holding a 4 mb tender for donation to Yemen. Weekly Sales...USDA reported an improved pace of export sales for U.S. wheat last week, coming in at 17.9 mb to put the year-to-date total at 345 mb; up 25% from a year ago but 3% behind the five-year average pace. Top seller was hard red spring with 8.3 mb, which put sales at 90 mb and 1% ahead of a year ago but 16% behind average. Hard red winter saw 4.8 mb booked to put sales at 136 mb, standing more than double a year ago and 18% ahead of average. Soft white booked another 2.1 mb and with 60 mb sold, sets 23% behind a year ago and 18% below average. Top Buyers...The Philippines took top buyer honors last week with 2.8 mb, followed by Mexico with 2.6 mb, Japan with 2.4 mb, Italy with 2.5 mb and Taiwan at 2.2 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2019 DTN/Telvent.
