DTN Early Word Grains 08/15 05:57 Grains Tentatively Higher Early Thursday December corn is up 2 3/4 cents, November soybeans are up 2 cents and September KC wheat is up 1 3/4 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn is up 2 3/4 cents, November soybeans are up 2 cents and September KC wheat is up 1 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: U.S. stock futures and European stock markets are lower early Thursday with reports on U.S. retail sales, productivity and jobless claims all due out at 7:30 a.m. CDT. Early Thursday, CNBC.com reported China's Finance Ministry said counter measures will be necessary to retaliate against the latest U.S. tariffs. Outside of grains, most commodities are lower early Thursday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 800.49 at 25,479.42 and the S&P 500 down 85.72 at 2,840.60 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.58%. Early Thurday, the September DJIA futures are down 57 points. Asian markets are mostly lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 249.48 (-1.2%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 6.88 points (0.25%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 67.61 points (-0.95%), Germany's DAX down 83.91 points (-0.73%) and France's CAC 40 down 33.03 points (-0.63%). The September euro is up $.001 at $1.117. The September U.S. dollar index is down 0.08 at 97.75. The September 30-year T-bond is up 18/32nds, while December gold is up $1.50 at $1,529.30 and September crude oil is down $0.81 at $54.42. Soybeans and meal were slightly lower on China's Dalian Exchange. October palm oil is down 2% after reaching a four-month high on Wednesday.
