Hard red spring continues to see slightly firmer basis levels but stands 30 cents under the 10-year average for mid-September. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed a modest uptick in the pace of export loadings for U.S. wheat over the past week, coming in at 16.8 mb to put the total at 274 mb and 22% ahead of a year ago. Hard red winter was top shipper with 8.6 mb, with both soft red and soft white at the 3.5 mb mark. Hard red spring registered 1.3 mb. Top destinations off the west coast were Sri Lanka and South Korea; both near 2 mb. Crop Progress...Intermittment rain showers are holding the Washington spring wheat harvest at bay, with progress at 70% complete versus average of 97% while Idaho is near the average pace at 94% complete. Winter wheat plantings are underway across the Pacific Northwest with Idaho going in near the average pace at 13%, Oregon is nearly double the early pace with 14% planted and Washington is about 10% behind with about a third of the crop in the ground. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2019 DTN/Telvent.
