Most notable, however, were increases in club wheat prices. Premiums for that market jumped to 100 over soft white wheat, as exporters acknowledge that wet weather impacted quality on late-harvested club wheat. Weekly Sales...USDA showed a relatively soft week of export demand for U.S. wheat, coming in below 10 mb at the second lowest level of the year. Total year-to-date commitments now stand at 518 mb, which is 13% above a year ago but 2% behind the five-year average pace. Top seller was hard red winter with 3.5 mb, putting sales-to-date at 194 mb; 48% better than a year ago and 9% ahead of average. Soft white registered 1.9 mb and with 98 mb booked, sets 14% behind a year ago and 5% behind average. Hard red spring saw 1.5 mb in sales and with 140 mb in commitments, sets 4% behind a year ago and 14% behind average. Top Buyers..Mexico was top buyer for the week with 3.3 mb, followed by Japan with 1.4 mb. Brazil bought 1.2 mb and rounding out the top five were Malaysia adn Dominion Republic with respective commitments of 950,000 and 800,000 bushels. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2019 DTN/Telvent.
