DTN Early Word Grains 10/30 05:56 Grains Mixed, Palm Oil Surges Higher December corn is up 1/2 cent, November soybeans are up 1 3/4 cents and December KC wheat is down 1 1/2 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn is up 1/2 cent, November soybeans are up 1 3/4 cents and December KC wheat is down 1 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: U.S. stock futures and European stock markets are mixed early Wednesday as many anticipate the Federal Reserve will reduce its federal funds target a third time in 2019, an announcement due at 1 p.m. CDT. The December U.S. dollar index is quiet, trading down 0.02, while other commodity markets are quietly mixed. In the world of commodities, Malaysian palm oil stands out as a market on the move, rising to its highest close in over a year and lending bullish influence to other vegetable oils. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 19.30 at 27,071.42 and the S&P 500 down 2.53 at 3,036.89 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.83%. Early Wednesday, the December DJIA futures are down 10 points. Asian markets are a little lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 131.01 (-0.6%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 14.86 points (-0.5%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 14.47 points (-0.2%), Germany's DAX down 33.42 points (-0.3%) and France's CAC 40 up 6.62 points (0.1%). The December euro is up slightly at $1.115. The December U.S. dollar index is down .02 at 97.45. The December 30-year T-bond is up 5/32, while December gold is up $2.30 at $1,493.0 and December crude oil is down $0.08 at $55.46. Soybeans and soybean meal are both, slightly higher on China's Dalian Exchange. January palm oil closed up 3.3% overnight at a new one-year high.
