DTN Early Word Grains 11/29 06:01 Quiet Grains Expected as Downtrends Continue Markets set to open at 8:30 a.m. CST, Corn Steady +/- 1, Soybeans 2-3 Lower, Wheat Steady +/- 1 By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: Markets set to open at 8:30 a.m. CST, Corn Steady +/- 1, Soybeans 2-3 Lower, Wheat Steady +/- 1 CME Globex Recap: Sleepy financial markets for the most part with trading desks mostly closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The most pressing thing to financial and agriculture markets seems to be President Trump's decision to sign the pro-Hong Kong legislation which is discussed more in the soybean section. Ag markets remain focused on weather with severe winter weather moving in Friday evening across the Upper Midwest, hindering harvest capabilities. Weather in South American remains favorable but the growing season from Northern Brazil to Southern Argentina lasts 9-10 months from planting to harvest so strap in. December soy meal and December Minneapolis wheat were the only contracts with noticeable deliveries on first notice day but most ag contracts are coming in riding impressive downtrends. Contract lows are close at hand for most pits. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 42.32 at 28,164.00 and the S&P 500 up 13.11 at 3,140.52 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.767%. Early Friday, the December DJIA futures are down 50 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 115.23 (-0.49%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 17.71 points (-0.61%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 19.45 points (-0.26%), Germany's DAX down 10.43 points (-0.08%) and France's CAC 40 up 3.03 points (0.05%). The December Euro is down 0.001 at 1.100 and the December U.S. dollar index is up 0.037 at 98.325. The December 30-Year T-Bond is up 2/32nds, while December gold is up $2.20 at $1,455.60 and January crude oil is down $0.07 at $58.04.
