DTN Early Word Grains 01/10 05:57 Grains Slightly Higher Ahead of USDA Assessment March corn is up 1 cent, March soybeans are up 1/4 cent and March KC wheat is up 3/4 cent. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: March corn is up 1 cent, March soybeans are up 1/4 cent and March KC wheat is up 3/4 cent. CME Globex Recap: U.S. stock futures and international stock markets are steady to higher early Friday with traders cautious, but finding no escalation of tensions with Iran yet. At 7:30 a.m. CST, the U.S. Labor Department will release its report on December unemployment, offering possible clues for future interest rates. The March U.S. dollar index is a little higher early Friday, but so are most outside commodities. February crude oil is up 12 cents. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 211.81 at 28,956.90 and the S&P 500 up 21.65 at 3,274.70 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.86%. Early Friday, March Dow Jones futures are up 77 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 110.70 (0.5%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 2.59 points (-0.1%). European markets are mostly higher with London's FTSE 100 up 4.50 points (0.1%), Germany's DAX up 30.44 points (0.2%) and France's CAC 40 down 0.28 points (-0.0%). The March euro is down $.0013 at $1.1139. The March U.S. dollar index is up .08 at 97.25. The March 30-year T-bond is up 5/32, while February gold is down $4.40 at $1,549.90 and February crude oil is up $0.12 at $59.67. Soybeans are higher on China's Dalian Exchange, while soybean meal traded lower. March palm oil was up 0.8% overnight, near its three-year high.
