DTN Closing Grain Comments 04/20 14:29 May Crude Oil Goes Negative; Wheat Finishes Higher One day away from expiration, May crude oil prices fell into negative territory Monday, an event that has not happened before. May corn fell 8 cents as ethanol prices also traded lower. Both winter wheat contracts finished with double-digit gains, benefitting from crop concerns in southern Russia. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: May corn closed down 8 cents and December corn was down 6 1/2 cents. May soybeans closed down 6 cents and November soybeans were down 5 1/4 cents. July KC wheat closed up 17 cents, July Chicago wheat was up 13 3/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was up 3 1/2 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up .17 at 100.01. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 401.56 points at 23,840.93. June gold is up $6.60 at $1,705.40, May silver is up $0.27 at $15.56 and May copper is down $0.0305. June crude oil is down $4.03 at $21.00, June heating oil is down $0.0581, June RBOB gasoline is down $0.0327 and June natural gas is up $0.137.
