DTN Early Word Grains 04/20 05:55 Monday Starts With Wheat Higher, Crude Oil Lower July corn is down 3/4 cent, July soybeans are down 3 cents and July KC wheat is up 13 1/2 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn is down 3/4 cent, July soybeans are down 3 cents and July KC wheat is up 13 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: U.S. stock futures are pointing to a lower opening Monday, while European stocks are mixed. Lockdown measures to prevent coronavirus are reportedly easing in Germany, Norway, New Zealand and South Korea, but here in the U.S., the daily death toll remains high. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday's U.S. deaths came in over 2,000, a little more than Saturday's total. June crude oil is trading down over $2 a barrel as the sharp drop in demand and lack of economic activity continues to weigh heavy on prices. Other commodities are trading mixed to lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 704.81 at 24,242.49 and the S&P 500 up 75.01 at 2,874.56 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.65%. Early Monday, June Dow Jones futures are down 415 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 228.14 points (-1.1%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 14.06 points (0.5%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 up 18.39 points (0.3%), Germany's DAX up 22.12 points (0.2%) and France's CAC 40 down 7.80 points (-0.2%). The June euro is up $.0016 at $1.090. The June U.S. dollar index is down .02 at 99.82. The June 30-year T-bond is up 25/32nds, while June gold is down $1.90 at $1,696.90 and June crude oil is down $2.20 at $23.83. Soybeans are slightly higher on China's Dalian Exchange while soybean meal is trading lower. June palm oil is up 21 ringgits overnight, but is still near its lowest price in six months.
