DTN Closing Grain Comments 04/22 13:58 Corn Futures Surge Higher on Stable Crude, China Rumors Corn futures surged to sharp gains Wednesday as shorts scrambled to cover. Soybeans tried to tag along, but to a lesser extent, hoping that China will begin to satisfy more of the phase-one promises. By Dana Mantini DTN Senior Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: May corn closed up 8 1/4 cents per bushel and July corn was up 7 1/2 cents. July soybeans closed up 1 3/4 cents and July soybeans were up 1 3/4 cents. July KC wheat closed down 6 1/4 cents, July Chicago wheat was down 2 1/2 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was down 1 1/4 cents. The June U.S. dollar index is trading up 0.176 at 100.550. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 487.29 points at 23,506.17. June gold is up $49.40 at $1,737.20, May silver is up $0.42 at $15.30 and May copper is up $0.0535 at $2.2830. June crude oil is up $2.38 at $13.95, June heating oil is up $0.0235, June RBOB is up $0.1365 and May natural gas is up $0.110.
