DTN Early Word Grains 04/23 05:54 Grains Starting Higher Thursday July corn is up 5 cents, July soybeans are up 10 1/2 cents and July KC wheat is up 4 1/2 cents. By Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn is up 5 cents, July soybeans are up 10 1/2 cents and July KC wheat is up 4 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Dow Jones futures and European stocks are mixed early Thursday while gold and crude oil are trading higher. U.S. coronavirus death totals remained high Wednesday, resisting the kind of consistent improvement needed to get the economy going again. The U.S. House is expected to pass $484 billion in new spending, an effort to help small businesses and hospitals counter the effects of the pandemic. Most commodities are trading higher early. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 456.94 at 23,475.82 and the S&P 500 up 62.75 at 2,799.31 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.62%. Early Thursday, June Dow Jones futures are down 64 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 291.49 points (1.5%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 5.48 points (-0.2%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 14.00 points (-0.2%), Germany's DAX down 43.69 points (-0.4%) and France's CAC 40 up 3.78 points (0.1%). The June euro is down $0.0034 at $1.0799. The June U.S. dollar index is up .15 at 100.68. The June 30-year T-bond is up 6/32nds, while June gold is up $12.90 at $1,751.20 and June crude oil is up $1.84 at $15.62. Soybeans and meal are both a little higher on China's Dalian Exchange. July palm oil is up 1.7% overnight, up from its lowest prices in nine months.
