DTN Early Word Grains 04/24 05:58 Grains Mixed to Finish Week July corn is down 1 1/2 cents per bushel, July soybeans are steady, and July KC wheat is down 4 3/4 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn is down 1 1/2 cents per bushel, July soybeans are steady, and July KC wheat is down 4 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Mostly weaker equity markets overnight although U.S. futures are pointing toward a stronger open later Friday morning. Energy markets are mixed overnight with crude oil steady to higher while products are showing weakness. Gold and silver are posting solid gains with spot gold trading back toward 8-year highs. The U.S. Dollar Index continues to trend higher, making new highs for the move overnight and hitting the highest levels since early April. Grain markets are mixed overnight with weakness in grains and small gains in the soy complex, although most contracts have traded both sides of unchanged. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 39.44 at 23,515.26 and the S&P 500 down 1.51 at 2,799.31 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.613%. Early Friday, the June DJIA futures are up 103 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 167.44 (-0.86%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 29.97 points (-1.06%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 51.78 points (-0.89%), Germany's DAX down 81.19 points (-0.77%) and France's CAC 40 down 34.21 points (-0.77%). The June Euro is down 0.002 at 1.080 and the June U.S. dollar index is up 0.180 at 100.715. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 7/32nds, while June gold is up $9.90 at $1,755.30 and June crude oil is up $0.04 at $16.54. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 0.22% while soybean meal was down 0.18%.
