DTN Early Word Grains 04/30 05:56 Grains Mixed to Weaker as Weather Improves July corn is down 1/4 cent per bushel, July soybeans are up 3 1/4 cents, and July KC wheat is down 2 3/4 cents. By Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: July corn is down 1/4 cent per bushel, July soybeans are up 3 1/4 cents, and July KC wheat is down 2 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are steady in Europe with U.S. futures pointing at a flat open Thursday. Strength was witnessed Wednesday following positive data from a trial of a potential coronavirus treatment, shaking the negative sentiment tied to worse than expected GDP data. On the heels of the poor U.S. GDP data, the European Union said their economy shrank by 3.8% in the first quarter, the largest drop since data began in 1995 and worse than the financial crisis. France economic activity fell 5.8% in the first quarter, the sharpest fall since records began in 1949. Crude oil is continuing its recovery with spot prices up 17% overnight. Grains are mixed to weaker overnight with grains soft while the soy complex posts gains. Traders will be eyeing export sales later Thursday morning as well as weather forecasts heading into the weekend. There doesn't look to be any planting impediments most of next week which should allow producers to really flex their efficiency muscles. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 532.31 at 24,633.86 and the S&P 500 up 76.12 at 2,863.39 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.627%. Early Thursday, the June DJIA futures are up 50 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 422.5 (2.14%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 37.64 points (1.33%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 33.58 points (-0.64%), Germany's DAX down 9.71 points (-0.09%) and France's CAC 40 up 0.66 points (0.01%). The June Euro is up 0.001 at 1.090 and the June U.S. dollar index is down 0.139 at 99.505. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 5/32nds, while June gold is up $15.50 at $1,728.90 and June crude oil is up $2.53 at $17.59. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were down 0.13% while soybean meal was down 0.41%.
