DTN Early Word Grains 05/11 06:02 Grains Mixed Ahead of Crop Progress, WASDE July corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, July soybeans are down 1/4 cent, and July KC wheat is down 1/4 cent. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: July corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, July soybeans are down 1/4 cent, and July KC wheat is down 1/4 cent. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are mostly weaker to begin the week as investors strap in for another call between U.S. and Chinese trade officials. This week will also see another round of important economic indicators including April retail sales that are expected to decline by 11.7% from the month prior. Energy markets are weaker with crude oil continuing to grapple with the 50-day moving average but the short-term trend is pointed down. Grains are a mixed bag overnight with the soy complex and wheat contracts seeing two-sided trade, while corn has maintained strength throughout the evening session. Traders are positioning ahead of Tuesday's WASDE which will set the tone into the early part of the growing season. There is also still optimism toward additional Chinese purchases of U.S. ag goods ahead of the next round of trade talks. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 455.43 at 24,331.32 and the S&P 500 up 48.61 at 2,881.19 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.682%. Early Monday, the June DJIA futures are down 146 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 211.57 (1.05%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 0.54 points (-0.02%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 29.63 points (-0.5%), Germany's DAX down 85.59 points (-0.78%) and France's CAC 40 down 55.22 points (-1.21%). The June Euro is down 0.002 at 1.080 and the June U.S. dollar index is up 0.351 at 100.120. The June 30-Year T-Bond is down 13/32nds, while June gold is down $14.60 at $1,699.30 and July crude oil is down $0.70 at $25.47. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were down 0.15% while soybean meal was up 0.11%.
