USDA intends to make that shipment in early July and comes on top of additional export interest over the past week. Nearby basis reflected the interst, strengthening 15 cents week to week. Weekly Sales...USDA reported a marked increase in export demand for U.S. wheat last week, posting total sales of 18.5 mb. The year-to-date total of 233 mb sets even with a year ago and 1% ahead of the five-year average pace. Top seller was hard red winter with 8.4 mb and with 86 mb sets 10% behind a year ago but 12% ahead of average. Red spring wheat sales of 4.7 mb placed commitments at 70 mb, which is 24% ahead of last year and 2% above average. Soft white booked 3.2 mb to place sales at 45 mb, setting 17% ahead of a year ago but 6% behind average. Top Buyers...Guatemala registered as top U.S. wheat buyer last week with 4.7 mb, followed by Mexico with 3.7 mb. Sri Lanka was a big buyer of soft white with 2.4 mb, Nigeria bought 2.2 mb and Honduras 1.5 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2020 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
