DTN Early Word Grains 07/20 06:01 Grains Lower, Soy Higher as Weather in Focus December corn is down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 4 cents, and September KC wheat is down 1/2 cent. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: December corn is down 2 1/4 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 4 cents, and September KC wheat is down 1/2 cent. CME Globex Recap: Global equities are mostly higher overnight, although U.S. futures are pointing toward a slightly lower open. The focus this week in financial markets will continue to be statistics related to the coronavirus, re-opening or closing plans depending on the state and the first big week of Q2 earnings season. Energy markets are softer overnight as concerns persist about fuel demand if the United States takes longer than expected to get back to "normal." The U.S. Dollar Index is trading back below the 96-handle level overnight with the overall downtrend in place. Grain markets are mixed with corn and wheat lower while the soy complex is higher. Another big week of weather for the Midwest as nearly the entire Corn Belt moves through pollination. Weather seems good enough to keep yield estimates stable or moving slightly higher, keeping bulls on their back foot. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 62.76 at 26,671.95 and the S&P 500 up 9.16 at 3,215.57 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 0.628%. Early Monday, the September DJIA futures are down 30 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 21.06 (0.09%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 100.02 points (3.11%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 down 12.56 points (-0.2%), Germany's DAX up 84.12 points (0.65%) and France's CAC 40 up 13.87 points (0.27%). The September Euro is up 0.002 at 1.150 and the September U.S. dollar index is down 0.099 at 95.790. The September 30-Year T-Bond is up 9/32nds, while August gold is up $1.60 at $1,811.60 and August crude oil is down $0.21 at $40.38. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were down 0.97% while soybean meal was up 0.31%.
